The Tennessee Department of Transportation says roadwork will continue on several Coffee County routes during its Oct. 8–14 activity-report period, including lane reductions on Wilson Avenue in Tullahoma and a planned long-term closure of part of State Route 127.
According to TDOT, Phase 3 of widening and bridge replacement on SR-55 (Wilson Avenue), from First Avenue to SR-16/North Jackson Street in Tullahoma, is continuing. The roadway is reduced from three lanes to two, with one lane in each direction, and intermittent flagging is expected for construction.
TDOT also reports that resurfacing work on SR-55 from near South Washington Street to north of HP Womack Road is in punch-list activities, with one lane in each direction remaining open.
On SR-55 near Interstate Drive, where a bridge over I-24 at Exit 111 is being replaced, TDOT says the road remains reduced to one lane in each direction, with the left lanes closed. Short-term flagging for construction vehicles and nightly I-24 lane closures for demolition preparation are expected; one lane in each direction on I-24 will remain open. The report does not give specific work hours.
TDOT says the westbound I-24 entrance ramp at mile marker 117 will close from Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. through Oct. 19 at 6 a.m. for grading and paving tied to the Wattendorf Memorial Highway/AEDC Road overpass project. A detour will direct westbound traffic to Exit 114, and all ramps at Exit 117 have a 12-foot width restriction.
The department also reports that SR-127 will close at the bridge over Bradley Creek on Oct. 12 for full removal and replacement, with the closure expected to last up to 10 months and a detour in place.
